The Swan Maiden

In Swan Lake she is an enchanted maiden who turns into human only at night. Pushkin made her Tsar Maiden, a sorceress, a heroine and the sister of thirty-three knights. "During the day she eclipses the light of God, At night she illuminates the earth." The Swan Maiden is a very ancient image.

In folklore, she is a swan bride, a symbol of transitional rites. A bird that can be in all three elements (earth, air and water) has become a guide between people and higher powers. It’s a symbol of purity, nobility, wisdom, and perfection.

A soul wandering around the world in the form of a swan is an eternal source of inspiration for poets.

Black swans are events that the world has never seen before, as opposed to white ones. The swan symbolizes a person with a more important life mission than others.
