Kokoshnik "Dragons & Unicorns" (1)
Teratological style (from gr. teras – monster + logos – doctrine) is a type of medieval graphic art, which is based on a peculiar combination of fantastic beasts and animals. If translated from Greek, this style is called "monstrous". But if you look back in time, you will see, that once "monstrous" was not so far from "miraculous", since both words come from old Russian "chudo", "kudo", which mean “miracle”. Also in Greek “teras” means an offspring of the Earth, and “terra” is the Earth itself, so basically it’s a living world, and not the monster. May this power, this fountain of life become your source of strength.
