Sacredness

"Spirit of place" or "Genius loci"? Genius means "the spirit that is born." It traces back to the Proto-Indo-European root *genh-, "to give birth, to produce." Originally, it signified the "innate masculine power of a clan." Gēns refers to "born people," and genetics stems from genos (race or kin).

In contrast, the words "Spirit" and "Soul" (in Russian Dukh and Dusha) originate from "breath," "air," and "wind." Only much later did they come to mean a "supernatural, incorporeal being." Dukh is the vessel of life—the vital energy itself.

Genius is about the genetic code of humanity, which compels us to know ourselves, to understand the Great Design, and to materialize it into flesh. Spirit is about that very life energy that makes matter living—that makes it a miracle. It is about the "Breath of God."

While Genius represents the reproduction of life, Spirit is the primordial spark of life that inhabits every new creation.

It is genetics and sacredness, belonging and endowment, mathematics and mystery.
